What’s My Inner Child – By Wanda Williams
“What is my inner child” I have been asked this question on many occasions, it is so easy for me as I interact with my inner child regularly she comes out to play with her quick wit & cheeky face she doesn’t want to grow up, I sometimes forget not all people are aware there is an inner child that resides within them.
As we grow from infancy to adulthood we are still connected to the childlike soul we were as children this is our inner child, it can come out anytime in life when we are playful when we are insecure when we are angry, have you ever had someone say to you ” Your acting like a child” or “When are you going to grow up” or you may have had a meltdown that looking back on it now resembles more of a tantrum & you literally throw the toys out of the cot!!
Have you ever paid witness to parents having disagreements with their children it is hard to tell which is the child & which is the adult while standing on the outside if they weren’t visible to you, you could be mistaken in thinking it was two children disagreeing, to be honest when I look back on my behaviour at times I think I stepped into my inner child mode more times than I care to remember, children can be very good mirrors of our own behaviour we choose not to always see it in ourselves it is easy to take the high ground & place the way we behave on others.
In saying this the inner child in us often gets triggered through the day to day life around us, we can step out into the world feeling happy & come home feeling totally the opposite, mood changed insecurities running wild, we may have experienced someone or something during the day that hit a cord in us that stirred up all this emotion quite often we are not aware these triggers have happened & start to feel down or depressed, this is the time to step back & look at the days events try & remember when our mood changed if we are able to see the reasons why we are feeling the way we do we can help in making peace within ourselves, leaving the past where it belongs to step back into the present.
It is often the journey in life making one’s way through emotional blockages to release & learn from the past, healing & stepping into the light of a new day we are blessed in the knowing some of these experiences we go through in life may be learnt in order for us to have empathy & compassion for others that may go through similar experiences, with the knowledge & understanding we have gained & healed from, we have the empathy to support others in need & so it goes round learning, healing to be able to help another in need, all the while the inner child in all of us can be the grounding stone to come out to play to keep the balance in us so we don’t take life too seriously, allowing oneself to laugh till we cry, to play, to be a child at heart is very freeing being with like minded souls that allow you to be the child at heart is one of life’s many blessings, to those beautiful souls that accept me & my inner child allowing me to run wild & play I am truly blessed & grateful thank you.
